Who are we?
Bio Alberto Ipas
Born in Zaragoza (Spain) in 1970,he has dedicated his professional life to creating and managing different leisure projects. He studied tourism at university of Zaragoza and completedMasters level studies.
In 1993 he started managing leisure activities for the International HospitalityGroup “Meliá International Hotels” in more than 10 of their worldwide locations (including the Balearic & Canary Islands). Therefore, he has wide international experience, including projects in Germany, México andthe Dominican Republic which focused on parks, recreation and leisure in green spaces.
Returning to Spain in 2002 he joined the management team for the group “Attractions’ Parks, Zaragoza”. In 2006 he worked as Operations Manager in Green Areas for the International Expo 2008 (140 hectares) in Zaragoza “Water & sustainable development”. After which he became the General Manager for the Company that continued to manage the post Expo spaces and facilities, for the following10 years (2009 to 2019)
During all of this period, he managed open green spaces like “Parque del Agua” (120 hectares) in Zaragoza, an award winning urban park with worldwide recognition for its environmental management.

Smart Urban Parks
Alberto Ipas is the founder of SmartUrbanParks. He initiated the “Green Flag Awards” in Spain 2017 and is aninternational judge for these awards.
He is the first Spaniard to obtain the “Certified Parks Professional International” qualification, awarded by World Parks Academy.
He is a valued member of several international committees for World Urban Parks and he participates in conferences, summits and congresses around the world about parks management.He is considered a world leading authority on the management of large urban parks.
